About Me

Hello.  This is my blog for recoding all the things that I learn whilst studying the module “Identity and Place” as part of progressing to a degree in photography with the Open College Arts.

I work full time in an IT Consultancy and historically this has not really created an outlet for creativity that I have always wanted to have.  I have learned much of the technical side of photography through hands on practice and a lot of reading of the popular press.  But, after years, I still find myself wanting to develop my own style and a deeper understanding of the art and culture that is photography.

In studying this module, I am hoping to gain the insights into the ways in which people can be portrayed and depicted in images.  I have found during the course of this degree that people feature more and more in my photography whereas before starting, I would go to great lengths to try and capture shots without them – so this module I am looking forward to.
